EDUCATION FOR DANDANGO KIDS

EDUCATION FOR DANDANGO KIDS

Education for Dandago Kids was carried out on the 17th of April, 2017, as part of the Charity works carried out by Charity Gift. We believe that everyone is entitled to education, both the rich and the poor alike. Some just need a little push and support to keep them going. We also believe that nothing is too small when it comes to supporting someone in need.

On reaching the school, we saw Primary 1 and 2 Kids having their classes under a tree each. Primary 3 and 4 were seated on the floor as they do not have desks and chairs. Only Primary 5 were seated on desks and chairs, of which they are even congested.

We also noticed that the school does not have a staff office, as the teachers just stay under the trees outside.
The Headmaster, Teachers and Kids were all happy to receive us. We introduced ourselves and our purpose of our visit.
While we visited each class, the kids stood up to greet us. It was quite disheartening that the kids cannot differentiate between a Male and a Female, they kept calling we the Ladies "Uncle". It was very obvious that the Kids cannot speak English or even understand it. Some of the teachers use Hausa to explain things for them.
Majority of the kids do not have school uniform and were very unkempt. The Headmaster brought to our notice that most of the kids were absent as they felt that Friday almost weekend and so feel there is no need to be in school. We also noticed that some of the girls hawk in the school.
I was able to ask the Headmaster of the challenges they face as a school. He pointed out that, they need more teachers, the school needs renovation, they need more classes, they need desks and chairs, they also need some learning aid facilities among others. We hope that the Government of Bauchi State will look into such schools with these needs.

Charity Gift thanks these people for availing themselves: Nancy, Suleiman Dasika, Mary Vou, Moses Habila and Afiniki Chiroma. We also appreciate those that contributed to seeing these kids were supported. God bless you all.
